Vitamin C What All Of The Buzz Is About

K Llloyd Photography

Vitamin C. It’s emphasized on everything from our food, supplements, and even skincare. It’s common knowledge that Vitamin C is popular because it supports a healthy immune system, but the question is what is it supporting when it’s in our skincare?

I finish every facial using the Tuel C-Power Serum and here’s why.

Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate, Ascorbic Acid or L-ascorbic Acid: just a few common names that you will see on your skincare label that will indicate it contains Vitamin C. Due to labeling laws, products must list the formal chemical name, so don’t be worried that you don’t see Vitamin C on a products ingredient list, look for those names instead.

Vitamin C is an antioxidant that protects your cells from free radical damage. Free radicals can be caused by extrinsic factors such as pollution, smoking, ultraviolet light, etc. When free radicals are not neutralized by antioxidants, they then can result in fine lines, wrinkles, and pigmentation due to their ability to break down collagen. Applying Vitamin C before and after is essential to protect your skin from free radical damage.

It is a tyrosinase inhibitor. Tyrosinase inhibitors inhibit melanin production (melanin gives our skin and hair it's color). Tired of those sun spots, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, and freckles? Vitamin C is a tyrosinase inhibitor, it brightens your skin pigmentation and helps your skin appear more radiant!

Vitamin C promotes ceramide synthesis. This improves dryness and irritation by locking moisture into your skin. Unfortunately, as we age our skin can lack moisture, therefore the use of vitamin c can have an anti-aging effect by retaining moisture in the skin.

So why do I think C-Power is essential for all skin types?

This serum is packed with Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate (light stable and oxygen stable form of vitamin c). But that’s only one of the reasons why I love this serum so much! This age-fighting serum also contains:

Lactic Acid: Exfoliates the skin and is used to treat uneven skin tone as well as reduce the appearance of pores

Malic Acid: Improves skin texture and is a brightening agent

Sodium Hyaluronate: Improves dryness, repairs skin barrier, and plumps

L-tyrosine: Helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles

These key ingredients are what make this serum one of my favorite go-to products! Purchase C-power on my website for 10% Off using the code VITAMINC
